So please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Davin George and I live in Sydney, Australia. I’m originally from New Zealand and have spent a good part of my life abroad in either the United Kingdom or Australia. I met my wife Katja George while living in London, where we had a couple of kids (Jessika and Leon) but after a few years decided we wanted a bit more of the outdoors lifestyle and warmth.
By day I’m an Information Technology specialist, these days being back in IT Security with an organisation called Tanium who provide endpoint management and security. The last 20 years of my career have focused primarily in Cloud, Multi-Media, Email, Infrastructure and Security with my current role being as a Senior Support Technical Account Manager which basically means I help customers and colleagues to use the Tanium platform to support and manage their environments. I have a pretty diverse background including System Architecture, Support, Engineering, Project Management and Management having performed pretty much any and every role in Information Technology with the exception of development.
After hours I enjoy spending time with my family and cats. We have 3 cats, 2 Maine Coon boys (Loki and Odin) and a Norwegian Forest Cat girl (Freya). And yes there is a theme for which all I’m going to say is I enjoy the TV Series Vikings. My hobbies are also quite diverse and including riding my bikes (Gravel Bike and Mountain Bike), building Lego, travelling, watching TV/Movies and growing plants. I’ve always loved growing and collecting plants and have always found a way to have some plants with me. Whether that be a small garden outside, the vegetable patch, aquatic gardens, terrariums or the greenhouse. Recently I have started learning the art and science of growing mushrooms with mixed results so far. My favourite family of plants to grow are Carnivorous Plants (aka Insectivorous Plants) with a particular interest in Heliamphora (South American Sun Pitcher Plants), Nepenthes (Tropical Pitcher Plants) and Drosera (Sundews) of which I grow a few.
Anyway, that’s a bit about me. The goal of this website is to be my online presence, to share my thoughts and to help others in various areas that I’m good at while also continuing to learn and develop myself.
While I’m at it; don’t be surprised if this website changes overtime; I enjoy learning, testing and fixing things which can also result in breakages as well; that’s part of the process.
